It was pure chance in 2019 when Kelly and Pete both found themselves at the Ashford in Jersey City. Kelly had just gotten back from a Knicks game with her dad, and Pete was waffling between plans in NYC or Jersey City. Neither had planned to be there that evening, but fate clearly had other ideas. Amid the crowd, Kelly’s killer dance moves (his words, of course) caught Pete’s eye, and a spark was lit.

Exactly five years to the day after they first met, Pete took Kelly on a special date to Grounds for Sculpture. According to Pete, it was no coincidence that the date aligned perfectly with the day they met, and we’ll let him have this one.
Kelly’s suspicions were high at first, but as they wandered through the museum without incident, she began to wonder if it really was just a normal date. Nearly an hour later Pete casually suggested they stop for a drink at the restaurant nearby. As they approached the Monet Bridge, Kelly didn’t think much of it until she noticed the rose petals sprinkled across the bridge, leading to a "Marry Me" sign.
Kelly would love to say she remembers every word Pete said, but in reality, she's pretty sure she blacked out. What she does remember is Pete down on one knee—and the easiest “yes” she’s ever said.

Looking back, Kelly and Pete often think about how easily they could have missed each other that night—but luckily, they didn’t. The Ashford, where it all began, has become a special place in their story. In fact, they even returned there for their engagement photos, celebrating where fate brought them together.
